Our Story

Kylix Wine is an idea my husband and I created from our love of wine, food and travel. We started talking about having our own business not long after we met. The word "kylix" was catchy and unique. A Greek word, meaning wine vessel, kylix became our business name. Although we have not explored Greece, it’s on the top of the travel list. We nearly got married on a Greek Isle Cruise, but plans changed, and we were married in Porto Venere, Italy instead. Regardless, we are addicted to travel. European, Old World wines are some or our favorites. This business is our dream to connect people with the treasures of wine, food and travel.

Working full-time as a pharmacist since January 2004 gave me the ability to travel often, collect wine, and experience the "Food & Wine" culture. Obviously not trained in the culinary arts, but rather chemistry and healthcare, my passion for wine fueled my learning. My husband and I plan at least one major wine focused vacation every year, attend local wine classes and festivals, seek out wine related events around the country, and host wine tastings and pairings at our home. My spare time is devoted to wine education and experience.

October of 2007 was our first trip to Bordeaux, France where we stayed at Chateau Magnol for six days and attended the Barton & Guestier wine course. We found a real understanding of "terroir" and an appreciation of Bordeaux wines. After our return to Fort Collins, I shared my new wine knowledge with friends, co-workers and family by creating a heavily French inspired Thanksgiving Wine Pairing List. With great popularity, the wine list was distributed to over 50 interested wine enthusiasts.

2008 is a milestone in my pursuit for wine expertise and an exciting career in wine!

The creation of this new business and my passion for wine are the two basic ingredients in my recipe for a successful career in wine consulting. My goal is to teach, write, host, inspire, advise, research and experience the world of wine.
